8-Ball League (zr8)
Zim's Rack 8-Ball league was formed in 2005 to offer a fair, more rewarding league for players and bar owners. We offer the highest payout for the amount taken in from the players in our areas.
We have three sessions per year; Winter, Spring and Summer. We have many divisions available to play in and divisions are divided by small geographical areas, allowing the players a shorter distance of travel on a weekly basis.
A unique handicap and scoring system is used to calculate individual and team standings. We run around a 16 week schedule, NO PLAYOFFS, FIGHT TO THE FINISH! We feel that this removes the desire for players to sandbag.
Teams may have up to 8 players on their roster, but only 4 will play each weekly match. Teams and players may qualify for Annual events, if they meet the event criteria.
In August of 2011, we formed a League Committee for our players. More details can be found on the League Committee page.
In January 2012, we partnered with a company to take ZR8 to the next level- NATIONAL! We can't disclose the details yet, but we will say this: 2012 has a lot instore for our league... check back often for updates!
Spring 2012, we are in the process of creating a more organized League Manual. The League Manual will contain everything a player or League Operator would need to participate in ZR8 League. This will contain the same info in the current league binder, but with a few extras and more user friendly. ZR8 Table Talk, a tri-annual newsletter with information about the previous session results and upcoming events are just a couple things you will find inside. More details to come...
As we continue to grow, we will add additional events for players to participate in and qualify for. The 2011 season increased 15% over 2010... keep it up!
SESSION TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP (STC)
The top 50% of our teams will qualify to compete in the STC. We will have 2 sessions, Spring and Winter, that teams can qualify in. The teams eligibility will be pro-rated by the number of teams participating in each division. This will be an ADDED MONEY event that will be held at a location TBD in each territory.
ANNUAL TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP (ATC)
The top 10% of the teams from the Spring and Winter STC will match up against each other at a location to be determined. $10.00 from each team from both Winter and Spring sessions will be added to the payout along with any team entry fees.
ANNUAL MVP OF THE YEAR EVENT
The MVP's from each division from Spring & Winter sessions, will qualify for the MVP of the Year event, which will be held at a location TBD.
ANNUAL SINGLES CHAMPIONSHIP (ASC)
Players that particpated in the Spring & Winter sessions are eligible to play in the Annual Singles event with $2.50 from each membership from both sessions added to the payout. This will be a HCP'd, double elimination event
SESSION SINGLES EVENTS
We have a Singles event and an All-Star event for each of the Spring & Winter sessions. Doubles, Scotch Doubles and other singles events will be scheduled throughout the sessions as well.
