Scoring System
This scoring
system is very fair and easy to understand.
For each ball you pocket you receive one point, including the eight
ball. You still receive points for
balls pocketed even if your opponent pockets the Eight ball and wins the
game. Add the total number of balls you
pocketed for all rounds, add your handicap and that is your score for the
match. If a player has to forfeit the
opposing team will receive their handicap for the victory while the forfeiting
team receives 0 points.
Point Standings will
be based on total number of points earned, NOT rounds. This will help eliminate
any sandbagging that might occur. There’s no need for a player to lose
intentionally if his/her team has already won the round. Players are forced to
play at their level to try to win the game! Each point is needed overall, NOT
each round.
SANDBAGGING
WILL ONLY HURT YOUR TEAM!
Handicaps will not be
rounded up like most leagues do, each player will have a handicap with the tens
being used (4.??)
EXAMPLE:
Zim’s Rack
League Other League Player 1: 7.46 9 Player 2: 7.46 9 Player 3: 7.46 9 Total HCP: 29.84
36 Zim’s Rack
League Other League Player 1: 5.51
8 Player 2: 5.51 8 Player 3: 5.51 8 Total HCP: 22.04
32
Team A
Player 4: 7.46 9
Team B
Player 4: 5.51 8
In other league
handicap systems they round the HCP up/down. In this example Team B would
receive 4 points per round/ 16 points for the match. With our system, Team B receives 7.8 points per round/ 31.2
points for the match. We believe that this will decrease sandbagging and increase
player’s level of ability to play.
You can actually
figure out what your handicap or rating as a player is by adding all of your
points and divide by the number of games you’ve played.
EXAMPLE:
“Player A” scored 31 points in 4 games…
31 divided by 4 equals…7.75 handicap.
