I started doing cue repair in 2001 while assigned to Spangdahlem Air Force Base in Germany. Equipment was scarce, but I was able to find an old wood lathe at the Base Hobby Shop.  I made a few modificaitons and was able to install tips, ferrules and clean shafts quite well.  After realizing that there is a need for quality cue repairman around the globe, I started to search the internet for different types of cue repair lathes. I wanted something that was lightweight, portable and ready to do work. I'm not a machinest, so I didn't want to have to modify anything, just set up and start repairing.  After doing some personal research and talking to other cue repairman and cue makers, I decided to give Cue man Billiard Products a try.  After I purchased my first lathe, the Mid-Size Cue Smith, I was eager to learn as much as possible about repairing cues. I decided to build a portable repair booth that I could set my lathe on and take to tournaments and offer on the spot repairs.  To my suprise, the first tournament I set up at I earned enough to pay for the lathe. This inspired me to learn more, maybe even make a pool cue.

I converted my first one-piece house cue into a two-piece sneaky pete in 2005 and have made great strides as a cue maker since then. I plan to make up to 24 cues per calander year, not including Sneaky Z's.  I primarily take special orders and rarely have anything in stock, but do ocassionally have something available.

In 2005 I became a member of the International Cuemakers Association (ICA) as a Cue Repairman.

I have received a lot of guidance and encouragement from various cue makers on all matters of cue repair and cue building and would like to take the opportunity to say thanks.  Zimmerman Custom Cues are identified by the "ZCC" logo in the butt cap and/or a "M. Zim" signature with the month/year of completion. I set the price of my cues so anyone can afford to buy one and will increase the retail price by 10%-15% each January.

I would also like to say special thanks to my wife, Eva, and two boys, Victor and MJ.  Without their support and patience, I wouldn't be able to do what I love to do.
