The Gateway Amateur Tour was established in 2005 in the St. Louis/Metro East area by Zim's Rack.
After 4 successful tour seasons with over 500 players from 17 different states, we have made a few additions to the 2010 tour season.
The GAT offers two types of tournaments to amateur level players. Both tournaments are handicapped 8-Ball! Handicaps are determined by Zim's Rack staff by utilizing other league handicap systems as a guideline.
The Tour Season runs from October-September with a Final Tour Championship (FTC) in October. We have 6 host room locations in the St. Louis/Metro East area and also schedule Regional events around the Mid West.
Players are awarded points for participation in each event and a $1,500.00 Bonus Points Payout is awarded to the top 10 players of the field at the end of the tour season. All other money accumulated from Added events will go to the FTC.
The 2010 Tour Season starts in October 2009! Tour Stops will be $500 ADDED and participation points will be awarded to all GAT Members; 5 points for Qualifiers, 10 points for any ADDED event and the top 4 finishers in the ADDED events will receive 4, 3, 2, 1 points. To be eligible to participate in the Final Tour Championship, you must have a minimum of 100 points earned.
10 BALL BREAK & RUN PROGRESSIVE POT- Currently $610.00
We are going to add something new to our tour this year that will quickly spread through the player grapevine and entice more participation. This will take place at all Qualifier and $500 ADDED Tour Stops in the St. Louis/Metro East area, not at regional events!
A player (or 2) will be randomly drawn for the opportunity to break and run a 10-ball rack. He/She will have the opportunity to earn 100% of the current pot (10% per ball)! To be eligible for 100% of the pot (10% per ball, you must compete in 3 of the previous 6 events, less than 3 and you are eligible for 50% of the pot, 5% per ball) and a second player will be drawn and be awarded the other 5% per ball. A second player will also be drawn if an A+ HCP is drawn first! This is to keep the HCP most likely to win 100% of the pot to only win 50% and the second player 50%.
If you are selected to try to break and run the 10-ball rack- you must legally pocket a ball on the break and continue shooting. After each ball pocketed you will earn 5%-10% per ball of the current pot. You have the option to stop shooting and collect what you have earned up to that shot or continue shooting! However, once you miss a ball- you've lost everything earned!
Raffle tickets will be sold: 1/$5, 3/$10, Arm length/$20. Money from tickets sold will not be added to that days pot, but will carry over to the next event, thus each event guaranteed to have a pot even if someone wins 100% at the previous event.
Since this is something new for the 2010 tour season, everyone starts new for their event participation!
NO SEMI PROS, TOURING PROS, AA OR HIGHER ALLOWED
The first event of each month is the Tour Qualifier.
The second event of each month is the $500 ADDED Tour Stop
Regional events will be $300+ ADDED and the format is the same as the Tour Stops.
